It has been 71 years that our country has been independent. There is this thing about the name of our country that a chill passes through our body when we hear something good or bad about India, Bharat or Hindustan. It gives us goose bumps when we hear about the advancements in fields of technology, business, economics, or medical science etc. but why are we not able to be the greatest country in the world in spite of being home to such intellectuals, resources, spirituality, rich cultural heritage, values, discipline and strong will power. On all the top posts of the best companies of the world there is an Indian seated. India has been home to great leaders, intellectuals, mathematicians, scientists, saints, authors and what not.

A matter of grave concern is “What are the reasons behind our country not being able to be the greatest country in the world in spite of having immense potential to?”. The reason behind, isn't something hidden in the bushes which are distant from our reach. The reason lies straight in front of our naked eyes. We are the reasons behind it all, we all are. There was a time when we stood up for what was right. We fought for moral reasons. We lived in peace, our society cared, our first intention was to help others. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were and we never beat our chest. We built great, big things, we were spiritual, explored the universe, cured diseases by ayurveda and we cultivated the world's greatest artists, musicians and the world's greatest economy. We reached for the stars, acted like men. We aspired to intelligence, we didn't belittle it. It didn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election and we didn't scare so easy. We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed, by great men, men who were revered. Our country was rich in cultural heritage and had a divine history of everything. First step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one. India is not the greatest country in the world anymore.
Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Technology that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than technology we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost...We were so keen to make progress, to acquire wealth, to earn more, to have more that we didn’t realize that we were getting drawn towards this materialistic world created by us slowly but surely, at an inexorable speed that we didn’t even experience it. We were so keen in achieving the success that we misinterpreted the definition of success and the definition became materialistic. Now the more you have and the more you earn stood for success and in order to be successful we were ready to belittle our very purpose of being, we were ready to put ethics and morality on stake, we were ready to be ruthless at our job, indulge in corrupt practices, we were ready to let go of all the spirituality that we had carried forward from our forefathers. We knowingly or unknowingly taught our children the same and here we are. Still complaining, whinnying, and grumbling that our leaders and ministers and media houses and officers in government offices are corrupt, while we should realize this very fact that they are part of what we are. If we put in the right efforts in changing us and going out of the way trying to stand with anything right and vice versa that is going out of the way to stand against anything wrong, then maybe it’s not too late.

To change the scenario, there is an essential need to change ourselves. It’s high time, we should impart values, ethics and morality in our children. We should try to differentiate between right and wrong and try to be righteous at all times. We should join hands with each other to make this country a heavenly abode.
We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness – not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world, there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.
Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men – machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate – the unloved and the unnatural! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!
India is not the Greatest Country in the World but can be in the future!
